About Me

I am a mother of three boys (three boys, being punished for my sins!) and have been a fan of photography for years. I started shooting weddings seriously about five years ago. With the arrival of my twins, I decided to reduce my working hours in order to spend more time at home with my boys. Using photography to make up for the loss of income was a natural progression.

This is where you will be able to catch regular excerpts of what I am up to...

For every bride-to-be, their wedding ceremony is the result of months of internet scouring, creative planning and organising, to name but a few.   And, as a wedding photographer, I have the good fortune to see how it all beautifully and almost seamlessly unfolds on the big day.  I also get to witness all sorts of unguarded and spontaneous moments that weren't in the plan, but will always form part of any wedding folklore.

For Dina and Leo, I'm more than certain that in the years to come, Dina will always chuckle when sharing her side of the story - especially that instant, as she was dressing (just minutes before walking down the aisle), her zipper decided to slip off the rails of her gorgeous dress.   Not that it had any impact on the day, because Dina remained incredibly composed as her mother and the bridesmaids came to the rescue by sewing the gown so impeccably, that there was absolutely no evidence of the wardrobe mishap and not a soul even noticed.

Dina and Leo will also remember that uninvited guest - the rainstorm - an ill-timed and disruptive part of the plot.  Then again, the summer downpour certainly added an element of drama and, with all things considered, provided us with some yummy light that we would've missed had it not been for the cloudburst.

In short, it was a wonderful, madcap, touching and fun-filled day.  Thank you both for everything.

As the Carlyle residence prepares for the festive season, things are gradually beginning to wind down (well just a tad slower) and I'm so happy to finally grab some hard-earned time to blog on the topic of Natalie's and Stephen's enchanting wedding.

This was indeed a second-to-none ceremony for me, as it occupied my first encounter with a pair of sparkling Jimmy Choo's ,-), but besides those matchless heels, there was of course so very much more.

Natalie is the most organised, self-proclaimed list-maker I've ever come across.  Certainly not in a negative sense, but in a hilarious, schedule-writing, detail-focused sort of way and I reckon that because of this, she was able to co-ordinate a gorgeous wedding in South Africa from the UK, without a hiccup on the big day.

Incandsescent with beauty, the day was full of unbridled emotional moments, adorable people and vibrant colours, so allow me to load up a few images to truly do justice to the flawless occasion.

It's really quite curious that as soon as the wedding season sets in motion, time itself seems to fly that much faster.  From nowhere, all these commitments and social events pop up all over the place and then you quickly realise that Christmas is also literally around the corner, along with it's own list of tasks and obligations.

This would explain why I've been a somewhat behind on the blogging front and hopefully I'll be able to find some time amid the throng of school concerts, nativity plays and boys' birthday parties to ultimately get a grip on recent weddings over the next couple weeks, or so.

As a result, I'm so happy to finally blog the first of these beautiful weddings:

Sometimes, just sometimes, there are no fitting words to adequately describe a wedding.  So simply put, you just had to be there and you just had to see how Bianca and Jody interacted as a truly devoted and loving twosome.  They're that elusive blend of a couple that you just want to squeeze, because they're quite simply so emphatically happy and at ease with each other.  And without fail, always full of laughs and smiles - not to mention some wacky dance moves on Jody's side ;-)

So to conclude, their wedding ceremony was exactly as I had expected and more. PERFECT.  But you had to be there.  .  .

I contemplated back and forth as to whether I should post this image.

In a perfect world and a perfect image "the arm" assisting Bianca getting dressed would not cut off half her face,  but I just love the emotion and prefer the real, as it was on Bianca's wedding day, arm and all ;-).

When I select pictures to post on my blog, I take extra time to reflect back on the big day; to take in all my own memories of the day; memories evoked by the newlyweds, Gemaine and Tyrone, along with those of their close friends and families.   For instance, the little flower girls playing with the "art" before Germaine walked down the aisle; the anticipation on Tyrone's face as she approached; their kiss after Tyrone's speech.  Yes, all the unguarded moments that will hopefully, one day, become priceless images - with an emotional connection for all involved.

WHOOOOA.   Okay, I think I am getting a little too deep here, so let me post the photographs before I start reciting Krishnamuti.

This wedding brings back good memories - Thank you, Germaine and Tyrone.
