The weather forecast, during the pre-wedding excitement, kept changing from all-day rain, to occasional showers, developing showers and then finally, to late-afternoon showers. Well, that's quintessentially Gauteng at this time of the year. The weather's highly unpredictable and it very much depends on your exact location, because it can pour in Sandton and yet there won't be a drop in Fourways - a mere few kilometres apart.
Anyhow, the storm clouds did roll in and right after the last Canon click, during the creative portraits, the first droplets began to fall. Luckily for Brian and Michelle, they made it back unscathed and after a few minutes the skies opened up and it poured like there was no tomorrow.
I have so much to say about this intimate wedding, but for now I'll leave you with this... an enchanting bride, her charming Canadian groom, welcoming family and guests, plus can I throw in the cutest little flower girl that ever graced a dance floor?
I have a smile on my face as I post these images, replaying the day over again...raw, profound and gorgeous.

December was nothing short of a blur. Seriously! It felt like only yesterday that I posted Happy Holidays and today, in what seems like the blink of an eye, the kids have now returned to school.
Well, before all the mayhem leading up to the festivities, I shot Simon's and Luisa's swanky soiree. Whilst I could ramble on about the staggering details that Luisa had organised, or the super-duper couple that Luisa and Simon truly are, or indeed the breathtaking setting of the venue itself, there really was one "aaaaawe" moment for me that I specifically remember during the speeches.
Simon mentioned, among other things, that one of the endearing aspects he loved about Luisa, besides her friendly and warm manner, is the way, when she speaks to a person that she always gently holds the arm of that particular person with whom she is talking to - that, to me, was such an adorable, genuine and heart-felt moment, which had me sighing behind my lens.
Anyway, before I start sounding like a Mills and Boon novel, here's a quick glance into their big day. To be honest, it was tough choice and even though both Luisa and Simon said they hated being photographed, I personally think we managed to get some impressive shots.
Birdseed confetti, some guests were intrigued to see what bird seed tasted like, and I happend to see one particular gentlemen give it a taste in the evening ;-)

Just a quick little post to wish you all the best for the rest of your holidays, and wishing you and your family a cracking 2013!
I will be spending the next coulple of days with my family and I'll see you back here in January with some special wedding posts.
I am now on a roll. I have finally finished my Christmas shopping and about to begin my edit-a-thon, but for now let's brighten up this blog with something special: Mena's and Neil's corker of a wedding.
During the getting ready part of the day, Mena happened to assure me that Neil wouldn't cry throughout the ceremony, but when crunch time came (yes, you guessed it), there were uncontrollable tears, excited beaming smiles, emotional embraces and kisses - quite simply, just perfect.
What I love, and what makes it all the more interesting, is that each and every couple has a different tale to tell; each has their own consummate individuality and quirks, which makes them and their day singularly unique.
For this big occasion, Mena provided the speechless beauty and Neil the unimpeachable charisma. Into this flawless recipe, add astonishingly moody skies courtesy of Gauteng's rather wet and rainy December this year.... and me? Well, I just pointed the camera and fired away.
Oh, and did I mention that as an extra indulgence, Mena's and Neil's guests treated us to some rather fancy Gangnam-style footwork ;-)
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead and enjoy the sneak peak ... and off to Lightroom I go.
...isn't technology awesome, sometimes.
And last but not least, thank you Karin for the beautiful blooms, they really did brighten up my home.
