About Me

I am a mother of three boys (three boys, being punished for my sins!) and have been a fan of photography for years. I started shooting weddings seriously about five years ago. With the arrival of my twins, I decided to reduce my working hours in order to spend more time at home with my boys. Using photography to make up for the loss of income was a natural progression.

This is where you will be able to catch regular excerpts of what I am up to...

April 8, 2008 // Engagement
Writing this post I realise that I have not posted an engagement session in a while. I have been shooting these...REALLY, it just seems that there is trend at the moment where couples book the engagement shoot a week before the wedding. Whilst I have no problem with this, it just means that I do not get a chance to post them, and after the wedding it's kind of a done deal, there is no point in posting them. So it was very refreshing to have one of these shoots booked months in advance. It was also nice that Trevor had organised such a fabulous venue, St Johns in Houghton. Tough one deciding which ones to post;

It's because you're portfolio is so good - that's why you attract so many photographers (or dabblers, as in my case)!

Just received this from Westley...and with wording like that I am not surprised Yolande is so in Love. "Thank you so much of these awesome pictures of us, they are priceless in every sense of the word. The reason I am so ecstatic about the pics is because you were able to capture the essence of our relationship and the truth of our love for each other. You made a perfect day absolutely awesome by giving us a personal reflection of our feelings and I am now more than ever excited about you taking our wedding pics because I know you will do my bride justice on her special day. A honest thank you from a sincere heart"

Westley and Yolande are two incredible people that are totally and completely in love with one another! Despite the cold and the rain we still went ahead with their engagement session. They were really the easiest couple to photograph, they just ignored me! They will be getting married in February, watch this space! engagement-photos-01.jpg engagement-photos-02.jpg engagement-photos-03.jpg  engagement-photos-04.jpg  engagement-photos-05.jpg

I am doing some major blog catching up today and there is no better way to start than to post some pictures from Marne and Charl's engagement shoot.

I must say I am really looking forward to their wedding in October as Marne is a graphic artist and that means details.....which I loove! marne-charl-blog-03.jpg  marne-charl-blog-04.jpg marne-charl-blog-06.jpg I received some lovely comments recently and just haven't had the time to post them... From Liza-Marie and David "Thank you to both you and Tanja for being at our wedding.  We had a fantastic time with the two of you. We had a look at the photos on the blog - I must say, they are amazing!  I think you did a fantastic job. Looking forward to see the rest of our pictures, to be honest, can't wait.... Thank you... words can't describe how happy we are with your work!!" and this one from Lauren's parents Rose and John... "John and I have finally arrived home to the UK.  We are so thrilled with your "sneak peek".  You have done an excellent job, only problem is, you have now left us wanting more.  The photo's are fantastic.  Thank you so much.  Andrea also a big thank you for your attention to detail and I am sure you have captured the whole lot.  I would also like to put on record our thanks for making Wesley and Lauren's day so special.  The guests that we have spoken to since the wedding have all commented on the two lady photographers and how fantastic you were."   On that note I would also like to thank Lauren and Wesley, and the other two "album couples" for their patience and understanding .......my worst nightmare my PC crashed last week...an absolute nightmare that has led to an editing backlog. Luckily I am paranoid about backing up the so no images have been lost, but the edited work ...gone.  Data recovery I hear you ask ?....have tried two companies already with no luck and will try a last option this week! When I do something I do it properly! It just means cold coffee, late nights and a new PC for me!

Last week I had the pleasure of shooting Robyn and Steven's engagement shoot. We were stuck for a venue and Steven was not too keen on my idea of "them doing their Tango" at a ballroom location.

I always encourage couples to select a venue or location that means something to the both of them....... so I hope neither Robyn nor Steven took offence at my next suggestion...the Sanatorium! Steve, who claims he hates the camera, "seemed" like one of those quite, reserved type of guys...but two minutes into the shoot I realised how wrong I was! ...maybe the location was not such a bad selection!!

All in all I think we got some cute and fun engagement pics! robyn-steven-01.jpg robyn-steven-02.jpg robyn-steven-04.jpg robyn-steven-03.jpg Steven thought I was "crazy" when I told him what to do for this shot! robyn-steven-05.jpg robyn-steven-06.jpg robyn-steven-08.jpg
