Geraldine and Clinton are South Africans living in the UK, who decided to tie the knot in SA. If you are wondering why so many couples in the UK get married in SA, first and foremost, it's a third of the price in "Ronts" and secondly, to those currently in Gauteng, the foul weather over the last few days - imagine that miserable, continuous, grey and depressing rain for weeks/months on end... and now trying to arrange a wedding, hoping for a lovely day...'nuff said! Geraldine has made Dear Hubbie's (DH) VIP list - DH is in awe. . why? Well, she works for SAB London (it doesn't take much for DH to put you on this list, anyone that has a connection with ALE makes that list). The reason I am bringing up Geraldine's workplace is that she mentioned there are 24 brides-to-be in her office. Geraldine mentioned this in passing, but I took this "stat" on as a challenge...out of those 24 gals getting married in the UK, Geraldine was going to have the best images, as I am typing this post, I know I shouldn't be so evil (or honest)... it's late, and I blame the chardonnay (well that's my excuse). So back to my evilness...to those 24 brides-to-be, eat your hearts out gals, try "pip" these images! Geraldine and Clinton were absolutely fabulous, a real laugh and a pleasure to photograph...the photographer...pure, pure evil (enter evil laugh)

BTW: To keep the playing fields even we kept the grey skies.

Damn straight she is. And I'm pretty sure no UK photographer is going to get as much out of their grey skies as you did out of ours! Those other 23 girls can eat their hearts out.

Chris and Elzerie - Kleinkaap

There are few statements that make me shudder... One that comes to mind is "I am a photographer" and the second... "The venue has a . . . 'nice' garden".

Let me start off by saying I haven't a problem with "nice" gardens...DH (Dear Hubbie) is an avid gardener, so I do know the difference between a Geranium and a Gerbera...and really do appreciate our "nice" garden. And, there really is nothing more rewarding than pottering around in your own garden. BUT, when it comes to wedding photography and if someone describes the venue as one that has a "nice" garden...I tremble.

"Nice" gardens are wonderful to get married in, to sit in sipping your chardonnay, listening to the kids laughing, and running through the sprinkler, but, 'nice' gardens makes it very difficult to acheive awesome creative portraits. That is why I generally look for an alternative location for the creative portraits. Chris and Elzerie got married at Kleinkaap, which is a stunning venue with "lovely gardens".

We had already used the scrapyard for Marné's wedding, so I did not really want to use the same area. Chris is a budding phototographer, so I had a double whammy..."a photographer" and "nice" gardens...but Chris and Elzerie were really open to every suggestion, so I think they got some pretty cool pics...in a lovely garden that we kinda coverted to the Amazon come Garden of Eden, combined with some at the "canal". (Luckily for me Kleinkaap were in the process of building on an extention!)

Chris and Elzerie were a joy to work with, Thank You! for allowing Belinda and I to share this magical day with you. You both had so much fun on your wedding day and we both enjoyed photographing the two of you!

Been feelling a little overwhelmed with all the editing left to do, and often when I get asked "how much longer till we get our images" I sometimes ask myself if it is worth being so anal about the editing, the selection, the treatment of the images, when the edits and other bits are not that obvious to the "amateur" eye ...and then something like this comes in and makes me think, YIP! worth every single hour of editing! Came in a while back, from Madeleine, but needed the boost now: I received my photo's and somehow it is difficult (even for me) to find the words. I cried when I when I looked through them... I don't want to say that you captured the day so perfectly cause you did more than that. Some of the photo's bring back the exact feeling I had at that moment and on some I can even remember what Hennie whispered to me. I am really finding it hard to say thank you as it seem such small words for the big thing you did. I am so happy with the photo's and both me and Hennie agrees that it was the best thing about the wedding ( well except for getting married of course). Thank you for creating something that will always bring back those unique feelings we had on our wedding day... it is priceless.

Yolandie & Westley - Chantecler, Hillcrest

I know there is nothing more boring for brides than reading through stories of "my kids are so wonderful", so onto something much more exciting; the wedding of Yolandie and Westley. Another mighty fine-looking couple (I promise they are not models I hired!), another great venue, and another great celebration! Tanja and I got up at some outrageous hour of the morning to board our flight to Durban...a breeze for me (I have 15-month-olds), though, not so easy for Tanja...the pre-toddler phase being but a faded memory. So, off to Durban - and not a beach in sight! We were welcomed by both families with open arms and were almost in a time zone - you know, the days where everything takes longer and things were made to last. The days of cupcakes, Frank Sinatra, a vintage MG and romantic music. Who said romantic weddings have to be boring? Landie and Wes are the picture-perfect, storybook couple, probably the nicest, kindest people you could ever meet...and both damn good looking...Life just isn't fair! Their day was truly special and I am glad we both had the opportunity to experience it! OK..STOP! ...enough of this "gushy" "mushy" loooove stuff!...onto the photographs:

Your assistants and DH have to be the luckiest people....I could look at these all day as a matter of fact I already looked at them 3 times already in the last 30 minutes!

I keep thinking with each wedding you shoot this must be the wedding of the year....and sure enough you surprise on the next shoot! Have to say for a photographer that is an amazing "problem" to have.......

I can't get enough! WOW!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!

Oh and btw DH is totally disinterested in weddings and photography, sad but true...that is why the selection process takes so long, I have no immediate 'bounceboard'...and I am so terrible at narrowing down...would post 20 pics from each wedding if left to me own devices! I have a BPC (A Blog Post Consultant) which is not DH!!

..and DH gets very annoyed with my constant plea's for which one he prefers..."You're a photographer? why are you asking me ...you should know which one is a better shot"....Yes I know but which one do you prefer!

Laura & Stephen - Moon and Sixpence

Apologies. A bit late with this post, but had some IT glitch interfere with my good intentions of posting this wedding last week...confession; that's why you had to endure yet another "midget" update last week. Onto Laura and Stephen's wedding, I was really, really, R..E..A..L..L..Y looking forward to this one!! Why I hear you ask? Was it the venue?......NOPE! Was it that you knew Laura's dress was going to be spectacular?....OOOH NOO! Was it the fact that Stephen's dad is some famous international cricketer?.....NADA! That Stephen, himself, is some well-known cricketer for the Lions......NAY! Maybe, that Laura is Matt's sister (Matt and Eva) and the speeches are bound to be funny (English wit)?....WRONG AGAIN! The real reason.....a lot more logical than cricket. I was looking forward to spending 11 hours watching ... sigh ...Stephen! Sorry Laura, although you are gorgeous, and looked absolutely stunning, you are just not my type! Thank you for letting us share this special day and trusting us to capture your memories. You are both as beautiful inside, as out, with BIG hearts!
