About Me

I am a mother of three boys (three boys, being punished for my sins!) and have been a fan of photography for years. I started shooting weddings seriously about five years ago. With the arrival of my twins, I decided to reduce my working hours in order to spend more time at home with my boys. Using photography to make up for the loss of income was a natural progression.

This is where you will be able to catch regular excerpts of what I am up to...

Happy-New-Year.jpg

I just wanted to wish you all a very happy new year filled with happiness and health, and to thank you all for stopping by in 2010.

Looking forward to 2011, hopefully it will pass a little slower.

I hope you'll understand that at this time of the year, amidst all the crazy hustle and bustle of last week (including an unexpected near-ordeal with one of the midgets), has meant that I do not have much time to spend on the blog.

So here you are, finally, one of two posts that has been way overdue: This being my third wedding at Greenleaves, but, it seems totally different from each of my prior assignments. It's funny how, despite how many times I have been to any given venue, that every ceremony is always completely poles apart; each having its own special atmosphere.

I think that's what makes photographing weddings so fulfilling - it's the people who make the celebration and their vast assortment of friends & family that also add to the uniqueness of every occasion.

If there is one experience I would take away from this particular wedding, to treasure forever, it would then have to be the beautiful and personalised service that the pastor delivered. It had both parents in tears and reminded each and every one of us just how fast time flies. A baby girl born; a boy on his blue BMX and, in a flash, here they are, twenty-odd years later - Susanna and Rousseau in front of both families, getting married to start their lives as one.

Thank you so much for allowing us to share your marriage ceremony with you. It was so full of love and laughter and I wish that you'll have plenty more to come in your future together!

Today is a public holiday and we have decided to make it a long weekend away. Back in the office on Monday.

I thought I had better do an itty bitty post this morning as it's been a bit sparse on the wedding side. A sneak peak of what is yet to be posted.

Dear Andrea. I found your blog on internet. The old one. And there I found the link to this new website. I just want you to know that I think your work is fantastic. I am a 21 yo brazilian girl. My boyfriend is canadian and I'm probably moving there very soon. As we already talked about getting married I search photographs very often and yours are the best I've seen so far. I'm in love with your work.

Andrea, the moments you capture are so crystal clear with life, joy and elegance I absolutely love your work. I am just starting out as a photographer, I live in the states, and am going to my first conference next week! If you wouldn't mind, I would love to know what kind of camera you are using, I don't know if the major brands are different in South Africa, but it is evident your camera and how you work the lens is fabulous. I hope you are enjoying yourself!
