Oh, dear - I don't even know where to begin with this one.
I know it seems as though each time I post a wedding on my blog, I'm talking about how great the couple was, how wonderful the wedding was, etc.... but, Lance and Sarah are precisely one of those couples you just can't help but have a soft spot for.
Based in San Fransisco, they both work in advertising and just ooze style*.
Going by the ceremony speeches, I understand that Lance (and his partner) were the first South African's to win a Grand Prix award at the International Cannes Advertising Festival... *yep, that level of "stylish"!
The wedding was the perfect mix of upscale class and a relaxed schedule, with the only major listing on the agenda being to get married and take photos.
The location was perfect for the picnic wedding Sarah had planned, with lush lawns to lay down picnic blankets & baskets, play croquet, volleyball, mingle and just enjoy the day!
One small glitch though....the Highveld summer rains!
Sarah and Lance, however, were lucky enough to fit in the garden ceremony, as the showers held back for the "I do's" and then the skies opened up.
The timetable was then rearranged and unfortunately the creative portraits (pictures of the couple) were unwillingly sacrificed.
We did, on the other hand, have a back-up plan to complete these, but, both Lance and Sarah decided they would prefer an in-the-moment images of the day, as events actually happened.
So here you are - simple moments captured, as they transpired...

Jake has a very cute habit, at the moment, which tends to bring on a wide smile.
When ever he is given a treat, like a sweet, he shreaks in the most over-exaggerated and over-enthusiastic voice.... "WOW WEE!" (insert huge excited eyes) that it makes my heart have hysterics.
While editing Trevor and Vivien's wedding, recently, I came across this one and just thought of Jake screeching "WOW WEE!".
I am not sure how I previously overlooked it for the blog selection, although, it was kept aside in a to-post folder, a little late, but, here it is. . .
WOW WEEEE - what a lucky guy!!! :-)
(01.13.09 @ 09:25 AM)In between the school holidays, SantaMan and everything else, I did manage to shoot a wedding; that of Brenda and Joe, at the Westcliff . I am afraid I do not have enough "sane" time at the moment, where I can sit quietly and write a more descriptive account of the day and feel it unfair not to post their pics.
A couple of highlights, which do stand out, was Joe surprised Brenda at the reception and pulled out a guitar so that he could serenade her, plus, the surprise presentation he put together, digging out all her old photos.
I have kept it black and white, in an effort to attempt to move out of my comfort zone and my obsession for colour. . . I have also finally found a black-and-white conversion I truly like!!
On another note, it seems my "Out of Office" does not go out to all incoming emails - not sure why? But, just to remind you I'm still on leave and officially "in the office" as of Monday 12th January 2009.
Here you are Brenda and Joe, apologies for the non-descript post

The light streaming through the windows in the seond one is just WOW! I'd love to see more of these...hint, hint...

Sorry y'all but I am going to make this a short post (Oh, how you'll miss my great wit, right?!), but things are just chaos on my end, a longer post will probably mean another two weeks of not posting.
I am not sure why, but there is something about a 'Friday' wedding that seems to make it a little more special to me. I feel like... it's kind of a secret wedding, the only one on a day where everyone else is at work, sitting at their desks.
Kim & Leigh exchanged their vows at Casalinga and had their reception at Hakunamatata...a really unique affair!!

Yay, two posts in one day! These are stunning as always - I love the sun in the last one especially. And yes, Fridays are a wonderful, magical day to get married on :-)
(12.11.08 @ 08:58 PM)Hi there busy bee.
Great work as always and that is to be expected from a master photographer such as your self.
I must say you are converting me into a contrast freak with all your stunning work.
God Bless
Paul

(12.14.08 @ 12:00 PM)I'm trying to finalise Anne and Warwick's wedding pic's......Yep, that behind!! Found this little "beaut" taken by Chantal Madgwick, my second shooter on the day. Too Cute!

What special photos!! Even though the rain did put a dampener on it, what you captured is incredible. Love the one of them all laughing!
